Design

Despite the lack of innovation, the Vizio V-Series Soundbar doesn’t necessarily break the mold. It looks good in front of any TV without drawing much attention to itself, and it’s not ugly either.

There’s an excellent textile cover on the soundbar’s front, while the top and bottom are made of plastic. On the top, you will also find physical controls for using the soundbar without a remote. The device has a volume control, an input selection button, a Bluetooth button, and a power button.

The inputs and outputs of the device are located on the back. Additionally, it has an HDMI ARC input, an optical input, and two aux ports, one dedicated to using with a virtual assistant. It is a pleasant touch on a soundbar in this price range, but we’ll discuss it later.

vizio 2.1

Besides being relatively sleek and stylish, the Vizio V-Series 2.1-Channel soundbar has a subwoofer that connects wirelessly to the bar. Besides the power button and bass port on the back, it looks like another black box. With the subwoofer, all you need to do is plug it in and place it – after which it’ll automatically connect to the bar, and you’re done.

In addition to the remote, it’s well-designed and easy to use. Can control inputs, volume, EQ settings, and more via the remote. The LED light on the front of the soundbar indicates which input it’s connected to – and there’s a key on the back of the remote to help determine which input it is. The color-coded system is exemplary; it works well, and many are likely to set it and forget it.

It only takes a few minutes to set up the soundbar. Except for the input key, of course. If you require to, change your TV’s audio settings and select the appropriate input.

Features

I firmly believe that several unique features make the Vizio V-Series 2.1-Channel Soundbar a superior product to others.

Thanks to its support for virtual assistants, you can use it with a smart device like an Echo Input or Echo Dot on a more prominent speaker. Although it would have been nice if Vizio had included a built-in digital assistant, it does support quite a bit of assistant.

You can also have the assistant speak over the speaker no matter what other input you are using, which is convenient since you won’t always listen to the assistant.

As a result, Bluetooth connections are treated the same as virtual assistant connections, and you might accidentally listen to your phone’s audio during a TV show. That’s understandable but still annoying.

This soundbar does not support all the fancy audio standards, but it does well for a product in this price range. The soundbar and subwoofer support DTS Virtual:X through the three speakers built into the device. In addition, you can easily adjust the overall EQ of the audio right from the remote.

Connectivity

I was using advanced technology to connect. With HDMI and ARC connections, your TV can be connected to the soundbar and controlled conveniently with the TV remote.

HDMI ARC is not necessary – it’s best used with soundbars that support advanced audio formats such as DTS:X and Dolby Atmos, which cannot be transmitted over optical connections. HDMI offers no audio advantage to the V21 since it doesn’t support them.

The V21’s volume and mute can be controlled using HDMI ARC, though you can also use an optical connection if you train it to recognize your TV’s remote.

Sound quality

The V21 sounds fantastic for its price. With the small wireless 5-inch subwoofer, you get impressive stereo separation, and the low-end boom is surprisingly loud, giving you the impression of being in a movie theater.

You’ll hear what your TV’s built-in speakers have been keeping from you when you play your favorite Marvel, DC, or Star Wars movie.

There is a distinct lack of detail through the midrange, for example, as you might expect, but for less than $200, the V21 will give any TV a significant lift in sound quality, which is precisely what we wanted.

In terms of producing overhead sounds, as you would get from dedicated height speakers, DTS Virtual:X doesn’t live up to its billing.

Nevertheless, it adds a sense of width and depth to the overall experience. If you can sit in the front or center of the room, I recommend keeping it turned on.

Pros

  • Affordably priced
  • Everything is included
  • A lot of EQ adjustments
  • The sound quality is excellent
  • HDMI ARC

Cons

  • AirPlay 2, Chromecast, and Wi-Fi are not available
  • There is no HDMI input

Buying guide

  • Make sure the soundbar has at least three channels.

Two-channel soundbars are still available, but they are nothing more than glorified mini-stereos. You can create a more immersive experience with surround sound using three tracks or more.

  • Choose an active soundbar. A passive soundbar does not have an amplifier built-in (active soundbars do). In our opinion, it’s worth it, especially if you want a 2-in-1 solution or you want to save space.
  • Place the soundbar where you think it will work best. Is it being hung on the wall or laid on the table? Your new soundbar should not be wider than your TV from an aesthetic perspective. The soundbar should be placed under or above the TV, mounted on the wall, or a shelf. Don’t forget to have enough space!
  • Keep your connection in mind. The majority of soundbars come with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, so you can stream music from your computer, phone, or tablet – making your soundbar a stereo as well. You can also check for HDMI switching, which makes it easy to change audio sources without rerouting HDMI cables.
  • A dealer who is authorized can sell you a soundbar. If you do this, you will be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, service, and support.

Frequently asked questions

Is Vizio 2.1 soundbar worth it?

Over the last three years, it’s been my favorite value for soundbars. The Vizio V21 is its natural successor and comes with a bunch of upgrades. With the new bar, you get HDMI, new cosmetics, and an intelligent speaker connection.

Is Vizio soundbar better than Bose?

If you want something a little bigger, the Vizio SB3220n-F6 is better than the Bose Solo 5. Even though the Bose feels better built and has more bass, the Vizio has a better sound stage.

What is the meaning of the 2.1 channel?

You can get 2.1 channels with two speakers and a subwoofer, or one soundbar and a subwoofer (soundbar has two speakers built-in). A 5.1 soundbar has a soundbar, two or more speakers, and a subwoofer. That’s the best sound, but it’s expensive. 2.1 also delivers excellent audio. It’s cheaper, but it’s still the best.

How do I connect my subwoofer to my Vizio soundbar?

It’s easy:

  1. Make sure your subwoofer is on.
  2. Hold the pairing button on the back of the subwoofer for five seconds until its red LED starts blinking. Let go of the control.
  3. On the soundbar, press and hold the power button for five seconds.
  4. Press and hold the Power button.

Can you connect 2 Vizio soundbars?

You can experience the best audio quality from your TV by using the remote, modern soundbar system. Two soundbars can be connected. To get the best audio result, you should use a single soundbar.

Conclusion

In the best Vizio 2.1 soundbars with wireless subwoofer reviews, we break down all the good and bad stuff about the soundbar. Hopefully, it’ll help you decide what to buy.
The Vizio V-Series 2.1 Soundbar V21-H8 provides a lot of value for your money. This device delivers impressive sound for a sub-$200 soundbar-and-sub combo, especially when watching movies and TV shows on a big screen.
Although the subwoofer is small, it sends out a lot of basses. Though it can sound muddy at times, this is a welcome addition to an inexpensive soundbar package. You’re likely to find a sound combination that pleases your ears when you have features like DTS Virtual: X and the ability to adjust the sound as well.
Thanks to DTS Virtual :X, this Vizio soundbar does a much better job of filling a room with sound.
If you don’t want to spend too much on upgrading the sound coming out of your TV, the V21-H8 meets your needs very well. But ultimately, it is up to you.
